SoulKids® are SUPER excited to have announced that one of our FABULOUS Mentors Paolo has taken the next step and will be opening a SoulKids® Academy in SYDNEY!
Paolo very kindly wrote a blog for us, about who he is and why he loves SoulKids®!
I am Paolo Corpuz, born in the Philippines, living in Sydney Australia. I'm a 29 year old, who graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History, Sociology, and Spanish. I have worked in sales and marketing for 7 years and loved it for a while. But now after having experienced the SoulKids Mentor Training program and being involved in delivering the SoulKids program , I know that my time, effort, and energy is better spent developing and teaching children and adults the valuable lessons I am learning.
What inspires me?
Seeing the change and effect not only in myself but in others was enough. The only regret I have is wishing that I had, had more of this wisdom when I was younger. If I can share this knowledge with others, and help develop better human beings, then I am very happy to be part of SoulKids.
What brought me to SoulKids?
At first it was my mother that encouraged me to look into and explore SoulKids. After the Mentor Training was complete, I took part in the Self-Confidence weekend with eighteen children and I just couldn't get enough of it. Knowing I can now conduct these programs from my own SoulKids Centre, that's a great feeling!
What are my experiences of the Mentor Training and the Self-Confidence weekend program?
When I think back to the mentor program and the weekend program, I feel a great sense of pride, a sense of accomplishment, as well as a sense of enlightenment. To see the same program run with two different sets of children and seeing the change in them is simply amazing. Witnessing the same child at two programs, and observing the change in their level of confidence and self belief left me absolutely speechless.
What made me decide to open my own centre?
I am so blessed with having options and support in my life that allows me to have the opportunity to start this next chapter of my life. What made me decide to do this was really simple. I saw the transformation in myself. If a few days was all it took to transform me, and help me grow, I started to imagine what I can do with the same training that was given to me, with unlimited time to help as many people as I could.
What are my visions and dreams?
My vision is that these life skills and techniques should be available to every child just like food, water, and education. Imagine a compulsory, prerequisite course available to children that teaches them important, life changing skills that they don't teach you at school. The world would be a better place with better, more balanced and adapted, human beings.
What do I want my audience to know about me?
I am an ordinary man with a desire to be a better person, if I can help others whilst on the journey, that would be awesome.
